Put me on the list

The day

Habitat has our group of ten on the schedule for Saturday, October 10. Construction runs 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a break at 11:30. Habitat provides the tools, the materials, and bottled water, and a Habitat supervisor runs the site.

The site will be in one of Habitat's two active neighborhoods, Roebuck (behind the YMCA) or Pleasant Grove. Habitat decides which one at its construction meeting in late September, and we text the address to everyone on the list as soon as we have it.

No experience is required. Closed-toe shoes are required on every Habitat site. You are welcome to bring your own tool belt, but it is not needed.

The waiver

Habitat requires a signed release waiver from every volunteer before anyone works on a site. We collect them for the group and send them to Habitat with our headcount a week before the build. Sign up here and we will get the waiver to you.

Get on the list

Places are held in the order people ask for them. The crew is capped at ten, and anyone past that goes on the waitlist. You can also text HABITAT and your name to (205) 538-1061.

The last one, September 5

On Saturday, September 5 a crew tore out an elderly Birmingham couple's failing back deck and built a new one with Hearts In Hands.
